The Institute for International Communication owe its existence to Dean Katia Passerini, who gave an enthusiastic support to this idea, which was languishing for about 5 years prior to her arrival at St. John’s University. Dean Passerini saw the value in the Institute that would promote interdisciplinary dialogue through intellectual work beyond the curriculum and by international exchange of ideas through academic activities, and engaging scholars and industry practitioners.
With Dean’s Passerini’s enthusiastic support the Institute for International Communication embarked on various intellectual activities, assisted by very able Graduate Assistants, Julia Theilen, now at Adidas, Germany, and Gohar Aznauryan.
Thanks to the Dean’s unwavering support the Institute sponsored various international scholars who did their valuable research at St. John’s University, number of visiting scholars, and we are proud to have a roster of very prominent scholars as Fellows of the Institute for International Communication. Thanks to all the scholarly activities the Institute for International Communication has gained quite a reputation at International level in the academic world.
We want to wish Dean Katia Passerini all the very best as she moves on to be the Provost of Seton Hall University, New Jersey. We are very confident she will bring to bear on that Institution her enormous talents of leadership, intellectual prowess and her deep capacity to authentically care for the people around her.
We will miss you, Dean Passerini.
